Traditional Karate is an effective and well structured self-defense and weapons programs that focus on a wide variety of mental, and physical aspects to improve ones physical, mental and self preservation techniques. Okinawan Shorin-ryu Karate-do is the root and foundation of over 90% of all styles of Karate and other martial arts. Okinawa is where karate was born and developed as a self preservation system. It was further developed in secrecy during the occupation of Okinawa by the Japanese who banned all weapons and martial art type exercises. Karate was later organized and spit into three branches. * Shurite was to become what is now Shorin-ryu The Miami Budokai provides Shorin-ryu classes that can be traced back to its origins. See lineage below : Kickboxing: Kickboxing is a fun way to learn self-defense while getting into great shape. The classes cover all essential facets of kickboxing and boxing training in a circuit format. The circuit consists of learning knee and elbow strikes along with various punching and kicking techniques and combinations, shadowboxing, jump rope, bag work, sparring and calisthenics.
